Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Association of Psychiatrists of Uzbekistan and on my own behalf, it is my great pleasure to welcome you and to look
forward to meeting you in Tashkent at the Regional Congress of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA), which will take place on
24β27 June 2027.
It is a great honour for the professional community of Uzbekistan to host such a significant international scientific event. Holding
the WPA Regional Congress in Tashkent offers a unique opportunity to bring together leading experts, researchers and practising
clinicians from many countries in order to exchange knowledge, clinical experience and the latest scientific advances in the field
of mental health.
The main theme of the Congress β "Prevention of Psychiatric and Substance Use Disorders: Global Approaches and Regional Solutions" β
carries particular importance. In the context of today's social, demographic and technological changes, the tasks of safeguarding
mental health, of early prevention of psychiatric and addictive disorders, and of improving the accessibility and quality of
specialised care call for the international professional community to join forces and to seek effective solutions that take account
of the cultural and social specificities of each region.
Our aim is that the Congress should serve not only as a platform for presenting cutting-edge scientific achievements and innovative
approaches, but also as a space for open professional dialogue, for strengthening international cooperation, and for shaping new
scientific and educational initiatives.
Tashkent, one of the most ancient cities of the Great Silk Road, has for centuries been a meeting place of cultures, ideas and
knowledge. I am confident that in 2027 our city will continue this remarkable tradition, uniting specialists from many countries
around a common purpose β to advance a modern, humane and evidence-based mental health care system.
We will be sincerely delighted to welcome you to Uzbekistan and hope that your participation in the Congress will offer you not only
a rich scientific programme and new professional connections, but also an opportunity to discover the rich history, culture and
hospitality of our country.
I invite you to become part of this important international event.
We look forward to seeing you in Tashkent in June 2027!
Sincerely yours,
Professor Zarifjon Sharifovich Ashurov
President, Association of Psychiatrists of Uzbekistan
Chair of the Congress Organising Committee
